Pricing questions, answered

What's included in every plan?

Every Orval plan — Starter, Professional, and Business — includes the same core feature set: AI call answering, appointment booking, lead capture, Outlook integration, SMS confirmations, custom greetings and business hours, ready-made templates for your industry, and the ability to take payments over the phone. The plans differ only in how many AI agents and minutes you get each month.

Are there any extra fees on top of the monthly price?

No. There are no per-minute charges, no per-call fees, no setup fees, and no add-on charges for 24/7 cover. You pay the headline monthly price and that's it. If you exceed your monthly minute allowance, you can either top up or upgrade to the next tier — your choice.

How much does an AI receptionist cost compared to a human?

A typical UK human virtual receptionist service costs £100–£400 per month for small business call volumes, often with per-minute overages on top. An in-house part-time receptionist costs £18,000–£25,000 per year. Orval starts at £19.99/month and handles unlimited concurrent calls 24/7. For most small businesses, that's a 4–10× saving over a traditional service and 50–100× over an in-house hire.

For a full breakdown of the numbers, see our UK virtual receptionist pricing guide or our call answering service cost guide.

Which plan should I pick?

Starter (£19.99/month) suits sole traders and very small businesses receiving roughly 30–60 calls a month — the 60 included minutes typically covers that range.

Professional (£34.99/month) is our most popular plan and fits most established small businesses — 180 minutes covers around 90–180 calls per month depending on average length, plus two concurrent AI agents.

Business (£69.99/month) is for high-volume or multi-location businesses — 500 minutes, three agents, the same flat fee.

You can switch tiers at any time. Most businesses start on Starter or Professional and move up once they've seen real call volume.

What if Orval isn't right for me?

No long-term contracts on any plan. Billing is monthly — you can cancel anytime from the dashboard with no exit fee, no "notice period", and no questions. If you sign up and decide within the first month that Orval isn't the right fit, drop us a line and we'll sort it out.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Billing is monthly. We accept payments in GBP. VAT is added at the prevailing UK rate where applicable.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. You can either forward your existing business number to Orval, or use a new UK number provisioned through us. Most businesses keep their existing number and route only unanswered or out-of-hours calls to Orval. We'll walk you through the setup.

Is Orval GDPR compliant?

Yes. Orval is GDPR-compliant from the ground up. All credentials and sensitive data are encrypted at rest with AES-256, caller IDs are SHA-256 hashed by default for privacy, and we maintain a full audit trail of all administrative actions. Two-factor authentication is required for portal access. Data is hosted in UK/EU regions.
